I'm going to make this with my ham on Christmas: Potato Bacon Kugel 9 potatoes (use russet) 4 strips of bacon (try 1/2 pound) 1/2 cup chopped onion (use 1 medium onion) 1 cup milk 1 egg 2T sour cream salt pepper --- 1) Preheat oven to 350 2) Grate potatoes and drain in a colander - try to remove as much moisture as possible 3) Cook bacon in a skillet. Drain (save grease) and crumble 4) Cook onion in same skillet until soft 5) Add potatoes and cook until heated through 6) Heat milk in a small saucepan. Once hot, add egg to milk (be sure to temper that egg!) 7) Stir all together and put in a greased baking dish. Cook uncovered for ~60 minutes - until the top is lightly brown and crispy.

A Waldorf salad would be nice. It's a light salad made with chopped apples, celery, grapes, raisins, walnuts and some maraschino cherries, a dressing made with half mayo half whipped cream and a dash of the cherry juice, toss it all together, and chill. It is really good, and not too sweet. And it's pretty. You can omit or add anything you want. I use almonds instead of walnuts, and pineapple is good in this too!. Enjoy your party!

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected far too soon. Some are rocks, many are bitter. Some of the fresh vegetables are right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.

Just set everything out that was left from Christmas dinner and let your guests decide. That's all my family does, and it works well.
