there is little you can do
you will need patients, in abundance
lots of sympathy.
and some good books that tell you about chld develoipment.
As a researcher in child devlopment, the one issue that concerns me is when parents/carers mistake 'bad' behaviour in their children, they think differently after all.
don't smoke around her, don't argue areound her, lots of cuddles and faith in yourself.
Make dad involved, most dad's who aren't involved don't start out that way, they feel inadequate or pushed out by mummy

The fact that you want give your child the best is wonderful, the rest will come naturally.
While you are pregnant, you can prepare by making sure you don't worry needlessly, your child will be going through the same emotions as yourself, try and stay happy and stress free,
dad can help by encouraging happy, stress free thoughts, and giving you massages as often as possible.
Listen to soothing music, try not to shout or argue with anyone, talk to your child and read to it.
Reading up on pregnancy is good but may give you too much information, so be open minded about what books say.
Have your bits and pieces ready for when the child arrives, you'll feel better prepared.
But above all, Don't Panic! It really will all come naturally to you!
GoodLuck!

There is nothing you can really do apart for have everything ready the baby will need. As long as you want the baby and are ready from the long nights, then that is all you need to be a good mum. If you like to read Dr Stoddards book is very good. It shows you the baby's changes from month to month and covers a lot of problem you could face when you get the baby home i.e nappy rash and colic.

All you have to do to be a good mom and dad is to go by your instincts, and also give your baby all the love it needs. Lots of cuddles and closeness too. When your baby is asleep don't 'tippy toe' around the room or ask your visitors not to make a noise. A little bit of noise (even a vacuum cleaner going) reassures a baby that he/she is not alone. If a visitor wishes to hold the baby, let them even if baby is asleep but not to disturb it too much. And the most important thing to remember - you will love your baby so much, but make sure that love encompasses your partner too. The last thing is to throw away all the books written by 'experts'. Every baby is different and so you cannot 'go by the book'. A baby is very time consuming and it is easy to 'let yourself go' and look unattractive. Remember, you and your husband are still lovers so take some time out to pamper yourself. All the Very Best.

It'll just come naturally. Sometimes reading parenting books is a good way to pick up on parenting techniques. You'll be good parents as long as you love your child and each other
