I moved into an apartment a week ago and -- not being a social person -- I didn't expect to meet my neighbor right away. But within 2 hours of moving in he came over to let me know my fire alarm had gone off for several hours the week before...I am still baffled as to why he told me that. Regardless, turns out I have known him all his life. I went to school and graduated with his brother (who I had a major crush on 35 years ago) and know his father very well. Anyhow, this guy is really nice, helpful and 11 years younger. Two days after I met him he showed me that he had his brother's yearbook from the year we graduated...he has told me I am pretty, he says I am funny - and he knows I have high morals -- I am blown away. What is this guy's motivation?

He just came over to tell you that the fire alarm went off? If I was going to break the ice with a new neighbor, I'd ask if they needed some help getting settled.
I'm pretty sure he likes you...but it sounds a little strange. I'd keep him at arm's length a while, so that you can evaluate whether or not he is psychotic.

He may have a genuine interest in you. I wouldnt jump up and ask him, for fear of embarrassment.. but, watch him over the next couple of weeks and watch to see if he shows an inkling of liking you. He sounds sweet!
