Tae Kwon Do is a good martial art. TKD focuses on the feet, which makes lots of sense- feet are more powerful than fists.

If you go take a TKD class, even for one month, you'll find yourself a lot more secure. Even learning the "Side Kick" or some hand strikes will be good.

For now you could learn some self defense tech. ( i believe you could find it on the web ) and practice every day. But my main advise is to avoid any kind of conflicts and street fight mainly because it can end up to disaster ( i know some times it can be impose on you in that case you have no choice than defend yourself ) having said that, you should find a martial art gym as soon as possible and start training. It's important to see which kind you are mostly interested in. I don't know your age but I'm guessing early teens.I always sujest that, around 10, start wrestling then in few years combination of boxing, jui jitsu, kick box. I guaranty you the best form and shap that any one can dream of. But because of your uniqe situation i would start kick boxing a.s.a.p.
Good luck my friend i wish you all the best.

Try and find some place that teaches Aikido it is made from Judo and Jiu-Jitstu that way you will learn two different styles but under the same roof. Aikido consist of flips, throws, joint locks, pinning techniques, chokes, grappling, counter attacks, multi attacks, all in a nut shell you will be a well rounded fighter. Just look at Steven Segal that is what he studies is Aikido. I have been taking Aikido sense 1997
and I have yet to find a fighting system that would compare to it. I am not saying that it is the best out there. But it is a great fighting style.

If you are looking for a self defense art, Look into Judo or Ju jitstu. Today there are so many lawsuits out there that if you break someones face, you are going to have to pay for it, whether you are right or wrong. I would suggest one of the grapple arts because you can subdue people without havening to kick and punch them.

If you take Taekwondo you are asking to have your butt handed to you. No one is going to let you kick them, and by the time you tap dance kick them, they will close distance and take you to the ground. TKD is only used to de-horse korean military...... and since I dont think you fight too much on horse back, you dont have to worry about that. No in all seriousness, DO NOT TAKE taekwondo for self defense. Its an oxymoron. kinda like Military intelligence or icy hot.

Anyone that recommends taekwondo to you for self defense has never used it in a fight or they would realize how useless it is. And I would challenge anyone who knows TKD to sparr full contact. get your kick off and then I can tackle you so we can all go home early and you go get your face checked out.

If all they do is threaten and talk Shi t than don't worry about it just walk away from them. If they wanted to beat you than they would have by now. They might be lookig for you to hit them first so they have an excuse to beat you. Just laugh at them and tell them to grow some balls and go threaten someone else. They do it because you let them. They see you get scared and back down from them so they keep it up. I know I went through it for years. grade 5 - 10 to be exact.
Trainig in a martial art isn't going to stop them from doing I I have been training since I was 4 years old and I still let them do it.
Besides if you are training and then you hurt a kid and they tell the school then you'l get in twice as much trouble because you have training, and if your sensei finds out they could kick you out of the dojo.
Best thing you can do for yourself is ignore them and tell them to either go ahead and try to beat you up or go mess with someone else then walk away if they touch you kick them in the nuts or punch them right in the nose as hard as you can. Trust me when his nose is all bloody he'l think twice about doing it again. Generally they probably will do it infront of others. Just turn that against them laugh at them and make fun of their shoes or hair cuts etc... Get everyone laughing at them.
The best defence is your words and your brain.
It will all be over soon and you will be a good person. In 10 years from now they will still be as sholes

Best is find a good martial arts school & sign up. It depends on if they just threaten or they attack. If it's a;; verbal, ignore it. If it is physical, what I teach my stucents is scream, kick & run.
A loud scream will startle your attacker giving you a little time. I good kick to the shin or knee will slow almost any onr down. Then leave, you have nothing to gain from hanging around. Of course your situation is different from whay I am preparing children to defend against, but the same principles apply.

Okay, so, this is my advice. Apparently, there's a group of kids bullying you. What I would do is as follows: Find the medium sized one of the group, push him down, and kick him the face as many times as possible. Then climb on top and slam his head into the ground. Repeatedly. This show of brutality and strength, along with zero mercy and a little cruelty... will effectively keep the others away from you. End.

Make him bleed.

Everytime they bully you go for the first strike and try to get at least one hit in. You may get your butt kicked after but who cares as long as you know they will not try and kill you or seriously injure you. A black eye and bloody nose heal up and chicks dig scars.

I used to be scared and get bullied as a kid in high school. My father said your getting hit already might as well try and get a shot or two in. So everytime they bullied me I would throw the first shot and get lucky a few times. I got beat up a lot, but then I started to be able to take blows better and I was getting better at punching and landing more. They started to leave me alone and look for easier targets because no bully wants it known that Joe the computer nerd kicked his a*s*s.

You have to take at least take one of them up on it and whip there ars. Once all the other kids see that you are NOT to be messed with, they will go away. Best bet is to not say a word to them, pick the one that gives you the most trouble and is similar in size, walk right up with no hesitation and punch him in the face, you will get suspended if you do it at school but I'm telling there is NO other way.

If you are not the violent type, then simple laugh at them, it's really best to show NO emotion but if you must show happiness! Show them you are NOT afraid of them.

crap your pants and threaten to throw **** at them. Even if they kick your a ss you can make them a laughing stock. Once you return from the hospital.

Seriously, get some training that teaches you how to fight. learning hand to hand combat is not about self-defence in america it is about learning to fight. Any situation where you are able to solve without a weapon is one you can walk away from to begin with so there is no "life or death" implying self-defence.

If you really want self-defence learn to fight with a weapon and supplement it with unarmed martial arts. as you are in school you won't be able to carry a knife and a gun, well you are too young. try to learn some stickfighting.
