I think the fiance likes a bow tie better, but I think that a normal (windsor) tie is more popular and stylish these days. Thoughts?

I think it's really a matter of personal preference. Although if the wedding will be a morning of afternoon affair, I think a Windsor is more appropriate. For an evening affair either one is fine. I personally prefer a Windsor (on my fiance that is) over a bow tie. Bow ties need to be continuously straightened as well, which is kind of a huge hassle for pictures.

I went with the windsor. More with the times, However if your guy has it going on then i'm sure he can pull off the bow. I would have been just a studly in a Bow. There is a sense of Old School/Formal/Traditional that never goes out of style!

Lastly, Your making 93% of all the decisions on the wedding and he is letting you do so with out complaining and staying out your way i bet! Let the poor guy Pick his Tux and accessories!

I would agree that a windsor tie is more popular. My gown had black embroidery, so we dressed the guys in black suits, vests, and windsors. We had to buy the black shirts, but it looked really great. We also dressed the girls in black dresses, we had the flowers be the main source of color, since not everyone looks great in every color. But most people look good in black. When I think of bow ties, I think of really fancy weddings, and windsors as a more comfortable, fun wedding. In the end, your the one wearing it, so go with what you will both be happy and comfortable with.

I think that the bowtie is a little more formal than the windsor tie but the windsor tie ia a bit more stylish.Go with whatever he wants. Its his day as well and he deserves to be as handsome as possible.

Congratulations!!!

I like both, but I kind of like the traditional look of a bow tie. It really screams "tux" to me. But I think both are quite handsome and will look great! It's just that a tie can be worn any time, but a bow tie with a tux is really a rare occasion.

While the bow time is timeless, I prefer the more contemporary and updated look of the windsor! That's what my husband and all his groomsmen wore and I loved it!

Bow ties are very old and can look funny if they aren't tied correctly...if you are going for something more elegant, try an ascot...if trendy is what you want, then go for a regular vest and tie.

Bow tie all the way. It is formal. It is classy. You only do it once in your lifetime.

I say bolero and rope tie. OR, black tails with a rope tie. Like when the cowboys get dressed up?
