i'd say its a reflection of a flash

It may be what is called "Lens Flare" This commonly happens when shooting at a very close angle to a bright light source (typically the sun) When this occurs turn around and take a dummy shot in the opposite direction and make sure this new photo does not suffer the same problem. Lens flare can look like white or colored spots, or rounded or crescent shaped flaws in a photo. In bright lights outside if your camera can take threaded filters, a circular polarizing filter will help reduce lens flare.

This is common with digital cameras and flash photography.
The orbs are simply dust particles bouncing the light back to the camera. I think it is because the flash is too close to the lens. An off camera flash will cause the light to bounce in a different direction and therfore will not be visible on the final image. hope this helps!

No, all 'orbs' are small dust particles caught in the digital flash. They didn't exist before digital photography.

Its probably a spot on your camera lense. It kept happening to me too until I cleaned it. =-)
