Call one of your local TV stations during business hours, ask for the chief engineer, he should know what stations carry what signals in your area.

The FCC mandated back in 2004 (as I recall) that all public broadcast stations (Over the Air OTA) had to broadcast a minimum of one digital channel. So assuming you live in the USA, you should be able to receive your local channels digitally. The analog broadcast channel is scheduled to terminate in Feb.2009.

You enter your street address and the web site gives you a list of options for antennas plus which stations you will be able to receive. It is there and it is free!
