I'm assuming you mean you want to avoid having children for 5 years? The obvious answer would be avoid sex. If that is not an option - please take the step of using birth control - (both of you if you are really sure you don't want kids)

I would get an IUD. It is safe and prevents pregnancy. My boyfriend is in Med school and I am working on my masters and kids are definately in the picture for at least a good 4-7 years for us either. I got a mirena which uses a low dose of progesterone. It will last 5 years and is a good match for me. Your insurance may cover it as well. Mine covered an IUD but not typical birth control.

get the implant thing...Depro implant...it lasts for 5 years or more but it is a little surgery on the arm
