I'm older than you are and I've lost weight. Walking will help you tone everything up, and even if you lose weight my watching your diet, you should start walking. It's made a big difference in the shape of my body. In addition, you can do crunches to help spot-reduce your tummy. All in all, though, weight loss is not a problem at 32!

Whoever it was who told you that lie, I would loose as a confidant. You can loose weight at any age and even, if you are smart about it, keep it off.
The bmi is a good indicator of body density and most doctors use this for ideal weight measurements, but it is not the best. ex. If you were a body builder or someone who was well muscled and strong, stood 5'7" and weighed 190# the bmi would say you are overweight by 35#. But if the 190# person had a body fat ratio of 15% or lower there is no way that he could get to the "desired and acceptable" weight of 165# and remain healthy.
Therefore, use the bmi as a guide not as an absolute. Many factors can and will contribute to what the ideal weight you should be at: body style, diet, total body density (muscle etc.) versus body fat.
I am 51 and have recently lost 30 pounds. I am currently plateaued at 190# and feel great. Yes, I am the example. You can do it.
Good Luck.

Sit ups are OK but the best way to lose it is by Dynamic Tension.
No equipment and no excuse not to do it. You know when you squeeze your bum cheeks together really hard? that is Dynamic Tension. Hold your arms out in front of you as though you are hugging somebody. Keep your hands about 10 inches apart and make two fists. Force your stomach and chest muscles out really hard and you will feel the Dynamic Tension. Start with two every hour for the first day. Don't overdo it you may pull a muscle. Gradually build it up to 100 a day. As you progress you will be able to hold the squeeze longer and longer. Also you can do quick hard squeezes as often as you like. I guarantee if you do this every day your stomach and chest muscles will really be in top shape. As I said it is free and you can do it anytime and almost anywhere. I am 54 and you can hit my stomach with a sledge hammer and I won't even flinch. I have been doing since I was in my teens, it does work.

It is very possible! Just make sure you really are 'dieting' and exercising regularly. It will also take some time for it to come off....so don't get discouraged after your first week and the fat is still there! Expect it to take a few months at least. It does depend on how much you are dieting and exercising, though...so you could lose it sooner if you are hardcore!! good luck!

Hi Michelle! It sounds like we're quite similar in age and build - I carry my weight on my tummy, too. I would say that it is possible to lose the weight at our age - or more importantly just to change body shape. I've found pilates quite helpful for gently toning my tummy and waist in the past and would really recommend Lynne Robinson's books and DVDs. They're gentle and relaxing and not too much like hard work!
Good luck!

If a medical doctor told you this, get a second opinion. If a friend told you this from their knowledge, seek another friend. You can lose weight!!! You need a good diet and fitness program. #1 thing you need is MOTIVATION. its the hardest thing for everyone thats trying to lose weight. I believe you can do it. Don't let anyone tell you you cant do it. Have faith, set up a eating program first. Stay on it the first week, second week, go with a fitness program and stick to it. If you fall off, get back on and try again.
Good luck.

Of course it is, who ever told you that doesnt want you to loose weight. I am older than you and managed to loose those extra pounds down to a size 8 with exercise, flattened my tummy. My husband always tells me I should be proud of my figure at my age ( not that I think I'm old ha ha)

women folk in many situations build fat preferentially of their thigs and decrease abdomen. the trick to laying off fat is to do it slowly, by utilising increasing your potential standards on an analogous time as protecting your on a regular basis intake point. make a nutrition plan plan, same quantity of nutrition each and every week and stick to it, on an analogous time workout extra often, 2-thrice an afternoon for 20 minutes or so (jog to paintings/college and jog back), possibly pass to aerobics or play activity two times each and every week for 2-4 hours. this could desire to offer you a gradual weight alleviation for around 4 weeks, then a slower weight alleviation for the subsequent sixteen weeks till you attain a stability point the place your can come off your nutrition plan plan and consume familiar healthful ingredients as and whilst your physique shows you like it (you will comprehend whilst). do no longer attempt lowering your general calorie intake/fat intake decrease than what you're having on the 2d, however you are able to desire to cut back the quantity of carbohydrates(intense calorie, low mass) i.e. bread/rice for some extra meat, lean lamb/goat or poultry and various vegetables(no longer potatoes however). this could assist you sense extra finished on an analogous time as protecting up various protein (which you would be able to desire to make workout consultation extra useful, and subsequently, burn extra energy even on an analogous time as doing no longer something). there is rarely a rapid answer to fat loss, yet with some no longer ordinary paintings and discipline, you are able to seem and sense great.
