then be distant but still e-mail almost daily? It's been 7 months that we have been e-mailing. What is going on? Does he have feelings and got scared? Why continue e-mailing me?

This so sounds like what's been happening to me. My guy friend lives hours away so we e-mail every day sometimes for hours. Now I see us as friends but sometimes we talk about things that you wouldn't with someone who was just your friend. So I asked him about and he told me that he did like me but the distance was a problem. then he said he didn't want to lose me as a friend despite how he felt about me. Maybe you should just email him and ask him if he sees you two as friends or more than that. He may not like the distance between you but still want to be friends.

Beause he can. You are not face-to- face and thus can't really know much about the another unless and until there is commitment and honesty. Thus, people can hide behind the email and never really commit to the next level of a relationship--and this can go on forever--unless you draw that line and ask yourself and him fundamentally--why continue?
