I think sometimes they do feel remorse, Then other times they don't believe you when you tell them what they have done. Then when they have personality disorders, I don't think they believe you when you tell them. Sometimes the remorse starts a depression phase. It kind of depends on the person and how far they are into the manic phase. Just my thoughts on it. And yes it is very hard to understand and deal with.

Please don't listen to Joseph K. Personally I no longer have manic episodes, only hypomanic ones. They're less severe and don't last as long. I regretted some of the things I did in manic states when I was younger. However now that I only have episodes of hypomania I don't do things that I later regret anymore. I go on cleaning sprees at midnight or find myself arranging my closet by color and season at 4 am. Never anything destructive. I have heard that some people who have very bad manic episodes don't remember anything they've done but I think that is a small percentage. I would suggest that you talk to the specific person you're worried about or talk to an actual doctor. We can only tell you what's happened for us not what is typical of everyone. Good luck with whatever requires you to have this information!

when I am manic. I do spending sprees and lots of other things..I always remember them and hate myself..If the things I bought haven't been opened or can be taken back, I take them back.. Most of the time that's not possible. So I suffer the consequences.. I do have BIG remorse and even cry sometimes, does that help

I think sometimes they feel remorse then other times they don't believe you when you tell them what they have done as it may be too shameful. Sometimes the remorse starts as a depression phase; it depends on the person and how far they are into the manic phase. My advice try not to mix with such persons if you can’t understand them or try to help them to get help.

Most people, once they recover from the manic episode, remember and are regretful for inappropriate behaviors they engaged in.

If they are really unstable, they do not realize what they are doing in their manic state...and probably won't have any recollection of it after they are out of the manic state...

From what I've witnessed, the acceptance (eventually) of above, and the necessary medication that ensues to negate this, keeps any questions of remorse etc. well left alone...leave them be...else back to square one, and worse...

I suggest to stay away from bi polar people. And if you are bi polar... GET SOME SERIOUS HELP. I had 3 exs and 4 freinds who are bi polar. It's not cool to cheat cause your mad, or to break ****, or to stab people and to plot against the ones you love just cause you're mad... It's a horrible disease.
And they're always compulsive liars too.
