At birth the breeder registers the entire litter with the Kennel Club using the KC numbers of the dam and sire of the litter.
The KC then sends the numbers and pedigree papers and name(unless the breeder chose names) and certificate of ownership for each individual pup to the breeder.
On the certificate of ownership is a section that needs to be completed and returned should the pup or dog be sold in the future. (a bit like when you buy a car!) So when someone buys that puppy, the breeder (who is registered owner of the puppy) signs that bit of paper and the new owner completes their details and sends it off to the Kennel Club to get a new certificate of ownership with their name etc on it.

mum and dad would need to be registered and your breeder would do, you cant. You can only change ownership detail with the kc. A lot of breeder put endorsements on the paper to stop breeding from the lines. Why do you want yours resisted? You can show with kc papers. I think it is too late anyway to chage, contact your breeder, usually they put the price up alot of this.

Which kennel club are you referring to? if the dog is pure bred it will come with papers and you simply fill them in and return them with payment. If you have a dog that does not have papers but looks like a pure breed and you want to compete in AKC events, you can fill out an ILP request form here http://www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm
This will allow you to compete with your dog in any venue except conformation. The ILP requires that your dog be spayed/neutered because you can't prove the dog is from AKC lines.
If you're referring to some other kennel club you'll need to be more specific. There are lots of 'kennel clubs' croping up because often backyard breeders have no papers on their dogs and cannot prove parantage of their dogs but they still want to charge high prices for their dogs. These 'clubs' create paperwork for the dog so unsuspecting owners think they're getting a 'pure bred' dog. I don't know how to register with these groups and i would not pass on the info if I had it since these are only out there to dupe unsuspecting people out of money.

You have to either download an AKC application or write for one. There is a fee, which at the time I think I paid $150.00, but I don't really remember. The application will ask you for the dog's name, which really should be a Champion Show name, and you have to have the AKC papers to send in with the application, to show it is from Championship bloodlines.

Usually if your buying a pedigree dog from a reputable breeder, they usually register the dog with the kennel club, and they should give you the dogs pedigree.
