I'm black as well...and have two children....I did perm my hair when I was pregnant....but I believe braids or weaves would be conivenant at this time it promotes hair growth without the hassle. she can flat iron her hair or hot-press it.....if she decides not to perm it....the results wont be the same but its a good alternative.

This has something to do with the chemicals that are in the relaxers. Personally, I did not stop using relaxers or color while I was pregnant. If she does not want to use a perm, she can use a flat iron to straighten her hair out during this time. That usually works, but will not last as long. She could also try braids, this will hold longer without the use of chemicals or heat.

My hair is really thick and coarse. for my weekly regime, I wrap my hair with wrapping foam (less frizz, soft texture), sit under the dryer (straigher), flat iron or curl the hair (sleeker), and use a curling iron on the hair line to make it look straighter (professional finish).
I see a lot of people with the tree braids. They look similar to natural hair, but the natural hair is actually braided to the scalp. Less maintenance, and lasts fairly long.
Congratulations, and good luck!!!

Try L I V and water, it's a heavy cream that will hold anything down while also providing an excellent source of moisture to keep her hair moisturized. But don't try any extravagant hair styles with it because it's extremely thick and her hair won't have that bounce to it (if it had it to begin with).

The reason for not perming hair while pregnant is that sometimes the chemical structure of the hair changes due to baby's using mom's vitamins and the perm MAY not "take" due to lack of some vitamins or minerals in the hair.

Actually it has been scientifially proven either this year or last year that relaxing and dying ones hair wont effect a unborn child.
But as far as a cream I like doogro products, vitapoint, and heat protexx by nexxus. Last result olive oil(extra virgin)

hiya ;) I completely agree, i hate those form of over produced hairstyles plus make up and so on... bypass organic! despite if it takes a jointly as to strengthen out, merely decide for it. interior the previous, I even have dyed my hair each coloration i might desire to think of of, had a mohawk one min then grew it right down to my *** then repeat some situations :s loopy! each time I even have regretted going for an unnatural seem. So I even have via fact that grew out all of the colour and merely save it trimmed shoulder length, great and easy. i did no longer like it plenty whilst it grow to be starting to be out in spite of the undeniable fact that it grow to be def properly worth it, its my prevalent seem so a techniques.... stable success!
