Besides moving to a house of course (I don't have the funds right now.)I have various techniques. Talk to them. If that doesn't work, mention it to the office (there isn't a whole lot they can do apparently), and calling the police (last resort). We are the best neighbors. We never make any noise. No loud bangs, no door slamming, and no loud music. we are very conscious about not making noise. And we don't resort to retaliation when we hear crazy noise. We try to be good Christians. Why can't others be more respectful? What is wrong with society? This stuff really makes me dislike this world.

By the way, the police thing rarely works. Unfortunately, they must be able to hear the noise from the outside at a distance of 400 feet away. And the outside of the apartment complex is cinder block. But the walls are like paper.

That's unfortunate. Maybe ask the apartment company if you can move to a quieter one. If they say no, tell them you'll start looking for a new apartment immediately.

Only thing I can think of is try to get an apartment on the top floor because there's less noise up there. You don't have to deal with the people who sound like a herd of elephants that are about to come right through your ceiling every time you come home. I feel your pain -- I lived in an apartment in San Antonio for 3 years and vowed NEVER to live in an apartment again after that because of noisy neighbors. You're really better off renting or buying a house when you can. Good luck!

Yes, you have a right to quiet enjoyment of your apartment, and if the landlord is not willing or able to provide this you have a right to break your lease. But first you have to prove that you gave them the chance. That means calling the police when appropriate (as per what the police explained to you) so there is a record; and keeping a record of when you contact the landlord about it--best to notify them in writing. Spell out in your letter the type of problems you are experiencing (TV, bass, etc) what you have done to try to rectify the problem (when you've called the police, spoken to the neighbors, contacted the office before) and specifically what you want them to do about it--quiet them down (point out that their attempts have failed so far), evict the people, or move you to another unit.

I feel for you. We have a neighbor (and we are in a house) that uses his chain saw at 230am to cut wood, to put into his bon fire on his front yard, then uses the light from that to help him aim his beer bottles into the garbage can so they break just loud enough for all his neighbors to hear. The sheriff in our area is usless too. I am very frustrated but don't know what else to do. We have a neighborhood watch and a community club, but no one seems to do anything. I wish I had better advice for you and I both.

FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE.....I've been a student for 10 years....when someone is making noise in the middle of the night, I get up at 5:30 and put on some loud repulsive music so they know what it feels like to be woken up two hours after you fall asleep... If someone is playing loud music I put on the loud music in the genre opposite to what they are listening to, I drown them out...it work EVERY TIME...of course, this has required that I buy a good stereo system, but what the hell, I get the benefit too?

next time you move, be conscious of the area. if you look for a more family oriented environment, chances are the area will be quieter. also, if you stay away from the city, and more toward the suburbs, you also have a better shot. apartments though will always have some degree of noise. as long as its not blaring music or someone blatantly being rude, it's inevitable!

It's not just apartments. I live in the country and our neighbor mows his lawn EVERY DAY. My ex husband worked nights and I tried to explain that he couldn't sleep for the noise. He just kept at it. I'd just say to talk to them and if that doesn't work, call the cops. Good luck!

If I was you I would ask my church if they know of any decent neighborhood . Or ask your friends to help you find what you are looking for.By asking for help you would be surprise how much help you can get.Sometimes people are so caught up in there own lives. If you just take some time out of your busy shelude to say hello, you will see it is a beautiful world out there.IT start with you.

Some people just don't care. I think you may just have to move if it is really that bad, obviously there is not much you can do if the landlord dosent care.. Unless you keep on and keep on complaining. Sorry or talk to them , the noisy neighbors.. and tell them to please keep it down. But some people just don't care.
