I've done that exact thing before. You shouldn't get seriously ill unless there was harmful bacteria in the dressing, the most that might happen is you'll either get the runs or throw up. If you worry too much, you might make yourself throw up just from stress. If you do start to feel/become ill, see a doctor to make sure you don't have food poisoning. Most likely though you'll be fine, but very grossed out. I hope you don't get sick, and I suggest that you go through your fridge and check dates on all of the food to ensure that nothing else is expired. After my first incident I found 14 things that had gone bad in my fridge. ^_^

The sideffect will counteract on the amount of hygene proposteride that was in the old ranch sauce. See if the ranch dressing you ate had xanthum gum in it. ( if the xanthum gum sits for over a year it starts to lett out acids that turn into mold not able to be seen by the human eye) the acids start counter acting with the fluids in your stomache and will cause you to have diarea. If it had disodium inosiate and xanthum gum in it, them sitting for over a year together creates a toxic fluid and will cause you to cyclobenzaperine.
IN other words- YOU WILL DIE
I'm very sorry, go see a doctor.
I was just kidding, is it believable?

If the package was already opened, then it probably spoiled. If it was still sealed, then it probably is still somewhat fresh. But remember that they always build a safety factor into the expiration date.

It's quite possible.
I agree with the poster above - take some Pepto, just to be safe.

Duhhhh! Don't you think you should have looked at the exp. date as soon as you decided it tasted funny?
"unknowingly" is the optional word here, apparently you knew something was wrong if it "tasted a little funny."
Serves you right if you get the runs or upset stomach, which is probably all thats going to happen!
