Are you talking from a legal standpoint or a mechanical standpoint? Legally it depends on you local laws. Mechanically, I don't think you car would really care. Not unless your backing into a dump truck or something.

you might wanna try steering to the left once in a while also. Its better for the overall performance of the vehicle. Just remember that objects may appear in your mirrors from time to time, and that no two objects [vehicles included]may occupie the same space at the same time. good luck be kind.

It's ok as long as there are no objects in your way. If there is another vehicle there you may want to steer left.

It is OK to steer in the direction that you are not going to hit anything.
