No bank that I am aware of charges to open a checking account. You will need to pass a review through Check Systems or whatever service Wells Fargo uses to make sure you have no problems with checking accounts at other institutions - if you do, then you will have to open a savings account instead. Most require a minimum to open the account though.

look, i can sympathize with your economic subject, yet do no longer immediately condemn banks for regulations they'd would desire to institute because of the fact of recent Federal regulations. Politicians do issues to flow after "grasping" banks, in turn they get your vote. What the politicians are silent approximately is the ramifications this has on the "little guy" like your self. So what do the politicians do now? to maintain your vote they as quickly as returned flow after "grasping" banks putting you, "the little guy", even extra suitable at the back of the 8 ball. Sorry for the rant...;-) My economic business enterprise, B of A, tried to attach a $5 month-to-month charge for debit transactions. Upon listening to it I ran to the community economic business enterprise and advised them i became no longer satisfied. sufficient people did this and that they did no longer conflict through with the recent rates. yet I had appeared around and became waiting to bounce deliver to a Capital-One economic business enterprise had it been mandatory. All issues seen we are living in an spectacular u . s . a . with a sturdy yet imperfect(and what's suitable??) economic equipment. We in basic terms would desire to learn how to navigate around it.

It should be FREE. If not, so many other banks have free checking. You usually don't even need a minimum balance to open one. You should receive a free debit card and checks, also.
