In a Go-Kart you can pretty much cruise around, "Trick-Free"...if you know what I mean.
But in a 4-Wheeler you can pretty much do any trick possible and create your own....If you want to compare between them two, its speed, air feel, and trick resistence...I suggest a 4-wheeler for your Taste!....ha! just like me!...If you got the extra cash buy both...because the Go-Kart...in my opinion...might be used a little bit MORE than the 4-wheeler....or just TEST drive them and then you can make up your mind, buy it and come have fun with me....*wink* ...lol

On my go-cart I used an old motorcycle handlebar cut in the center. Put a lever with perch and grip on it like you would on a bike. Drill a hole about 4" from the bottom for a pivot point, remember this will mount with the grip end facing straight up so you can wrap your hand around the grip and grab the lever with your fingers. On the bottom of the bar drill another hole for a bolt to mount your shift rod, this will be made of electrical conduit with a nut welded in each end. Thread a heim joint ( these are used on snowmobile steering linkage ) into the nut and hook one end to your handlebar and mount the other end to the shifter on the motor. The best thing to do is move the original shifter straight down on the shift shaft, this will make it so the gear pattern is one forward and for the upper gears you pull back. I know it sounds wrong but mount this on the left side of the frame and shift with your left hand. Everyone who gets on my carts has mastered this in minutes, and it leaves your right hand for steering.

The ATV seats one but is faster and more maneuverable that the cart. The cart is slower and safer due to the roll cage, seat belts, etc. So it is really a choice of which fits your lifestyle.

Karts are useless off the pavement, as they have no suspension to speak of, and quads are not well suited for use ON pavement, so it depends on what you plan to use it for.
Quads are a LOT more expensive......
