For the same reason your skin becomes wrinkly after spending too long in the bath .. you lose water through your skin.

It's a good sign - feeling thirsty. It shows you're able to tell when your are dehydrated.

Drink water about 15 minutes before swimming or a bath.

When the body is properly hydrated, urine is clear. Generally you need 4 pints (2 litres) a day to be well hydrated. But everyone is different in how efficient they are.

i am not sure about bathing but swimming makes everyone thirsty because of cell s osmotic pressure.Cells are the smallest part of the body, which has a specific ,constant density,if we throw a cell in to a salty water(i mean a place whose density is higher) the cell would begin to give away some water to balance density. So the pools and sea is the places which consist more salt or other chemicals that your body hasnt got,so while you are swimming your body loses water.Than as a normal reflection you become thirsty

you can make an experiment in your kitchen buy a tangarine throw one piece of it in to a very salty water .than take another piece and throw the other in to a nonsalty water you will see while the one which was in to nonsalty water swell the other had wrinkled, puckered

Its because in a bath you get warm which makes you sweat, and in a pool you would swim which does the same... this means your body looses water and makes you dehydrated, so you get thirsty to replace the lost fluid....

Swimming is exercise. But I read somewhere that you should drink water before a bath or shower because it's dehydrating.

can't say i have experienced this strange dehydration,
but it may be that the heat of the room and the condensation makes you sweat and lose water, which will make you thirsty
as for swimming, maybe it's the exercise thing, or perhaps you are swallowing too much chlorine.
