My Dad is an Atheist. He always taught me to find my own path.
So when I started questioning Christianity (my Mother's religion) He was the one who pushed me to find the answers I needed no matter where they may be. After 10 years of research I reverted to Islam.

Yes, my father is an atheist and my mother is agnostic. I was taken to Methodist church by my grandmother as a child, but only sporadically, and I never really understood it.
I'm Pagan. I grew up rural with an extreme reverence for and hopefully understanding of nature. I've always felt this pull, but for a while I didn't know it had a name and a way of practicing to which I could relate. Then as a younger adult I discovered Paganism (a broad term, I know -- check religioustolerance.org if you're interested) and I knew this was what I had been all my life. Knowing this just gave me some structure and a way to more clearly honor and express what I already felt.
I take it that implicit in your question is the question of whether or not my parents influenced me. I think the answer to that is yes, but not in the way you might think. They simply did not *indoctrinate* me strictly into Christianity, so I was able to feel my deeper connection to another way of being in the world and recognize it for what it is.

Do you suppose there are only two options - atheist and, like you put it: "theist in some religion" ?

I do. My dad is a firm athiest.my mom is christian but does not prioritise her faith. I go to an episcopal church, but I consider myslef non denom. Through alot of deductional reasoning I became a believer in a higher power. (hey if evolution exists, it is sure as hell pretty creative and that is worthy enough reason to believe in god alone) The reason I am Christian is for the fact I have learned alot of things in becoming an eagle scout. My dad spends too much of his mortal life complaining about how christians are assholes and in reality he would be content if he did not let such things get to him (turn the other cheek)( as far as turning the cheek goes, that only applys if soemone is attacking you but does not try to kill you or someone else). I always suffer when I resort to materialism or impulse or greed, no higher power has to intervene for that to happen. I myself used to be athiest but if you were to tell me that if god/gods does not exist, that would be the equivalent as saying that the earth has a negative number of moons.

My parents were atheists before and so was I when I was in high school, but I became a Christian later, and when I say Christian I do not mean denomination, but a follower of Christ in His footsteps, and transformed into a new creature by His power and not by the act or rite of any religion. Because the Bible says you can be very relgious, be even preachers and miracle performers in His name, but if you do not do His will and follow in His footsteps, you are still lost at the end.
Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
So the most important thing to do is to find out what is His Father's will and His law, and do it!

Well, my father claims to be atheist. I don't know if you'd call it atheist, because I think he just believes in science, not God or anything. But my mother is Russian Orthodox. She isn't super religious. We don't go to church often. We go every few months or so.
