If it's still under warranty, you shouldn't fix anything yourself, or the warranty would become void.
For a camera that has been dropped the warranty will not work for this special case, but after you've had it repaired by the manufacturer or his official agency, the warranty will continue.
If it's not a question of warranty, you must know yourself how much knowledge of electronics you have, whether you are more likely to fix it or to make things worse.
If you have it fixed by the manufacturer, ask first for the price. You might get a new camera of your choice for the same amount of money.

Doesn't sound like a good thing. The first thing I would do is go into your camera manual and see if there is a troubleshooting section... it may list that error message, and if so, perhaps a good answer for you. If you don't have the manual, go online to the manufacturer's website and see if the manual is available there for download. Above all, I would stress to you that you should not FORCE the lens to do anything. You may damage it further. See if your zoom will function at all when the camera is on. Perhaps this could shift it out of its stuck state. If all your own trials fail, you may just take it to the local camera shop and see if the smarties behind the counter can give you some tips.

The dreaded 'lens error'. Usually needs sent off for repair. Digital cameras are fragile, and it is well worth it to buy the warranty.

go to a camera service center and check with them. you cant probably repair it on your own even if it's still able to be repaired.
