Obviously many people do but I just don't get it. I'm pretty liberal about when I think it's OK. I don't even mind moblile calls in a restaurant so long as the person tries to keep it at a reasonable volume when s/he speaks. But I just hate it when someone is standing at a urinal or in a bathroom stall chatting on the phone. Do these people really think the listener on the other end can't hear the sound of urine hitting the water or toilets flushing? Insane.

No I don't use the phone in my house while using the restroom. Nothing could be so important, other than an emergency. And I would call back after I was finished. I would not be able to assist anyway. Hopefully, if it truly were that important they would dial 911 first. I wish you a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year.God bless****

No! I hate it when women do that (don't know about the men). It's absolutely disgusting. I try to flush the toilet a few times so whoever that person in the other stall is talking to can hear where they're being called from!

Given that apparently the cell phone has the MOST germs of any item going...I personally wouldn't want to add anything else to it.
So, I'd have to say no...imagine the person on the other end :)
I had a friend however who thought nothing of calling me and then going to the bathroom while she talked...there's such a thing as being too comfortable with someone :)

cell phones effects people's life so much, many have forgot the proper etiquette.
Imagine, how would you feel if the stranger in the next stall is doing the business and strikes up a coversation with you while you are doing your business. I can't imagine that could be any weirder. so my answer is "NO"
and remember, don't answer phone calls when you are having a meal with some one. Very rude.

I don't care. I don't own a Cell Phone. No matter where you are, you always have to figure out if "that person" is talking to you.... Or is he on a cell phone?... The public restroom is just one more place.
Why not have a cell phone conversation in the privacy of your stall? It reminds me of the good ol' fashioned phone booths--Remember?

What is & isn't socially acceptable seems to change every day, so I don't know. But, I do know that I'd rather not hear about how some chick thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her while I'm wiping my a.s.s.! I mean, can people at least keep their voice down?

I've never heard of anyone doing it but I guess it's possible. As far as socially acceptable goes, I'd say if at all possible, wait until you've finished your business before talking on the phone.

There is nothing worse than trying to use a restroom while someone in the next stall is shouting into his cell phone.
