There are no contradictions between fossils and the Bible. In fact, the number of fossils and the way in which we find them points toward an actual worldwide flood as described in the story of Noah's ark. Even dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible. So I guess we explain them just like everyone else. They are the remains of once living creatures.

You are assuming that all people that believe in the Bible subscribe to the theory of the earth being created in 6 literal days of 24 hours each.

Well, I am not one of those. Each creative day consisted of thousands of years not 24 hours.

It is well known that fossil finds are just that....thousands of years old, however, that doesn't nullify the Bible.

"However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day" 2 Peter 3:8

The fossils exist. Some sea creatures are shown via fossils found near mountain tops. (Noah's flood). What other aspect does the asker want to have addressed?

Well you have a god that smites cities and causes his people to wipe out whole populations for daring to occupy land that he then promised to someone else (who put them there?), that is mysoginistic, homophobic, cruel, intolerant and capricious, its just a short step away to playing practical jokes like creating a fossil record belying the words of his holy book to screw with his creation

Sorry T-Rex! No room on the Ark for you! Mwaaaaahahahah!

I am endlessly amused at writers like the "lion of Judah" who claim to speak for science - and in his case even for academia. Mister Feline, your assertions about academia and evolution are total nonsense. What you should start doing is naming the university biology departments that follow your so-called model. The anti-evolutionist "scientists" (mostly an American phenomenon) constitute an insignificant minority of the research AND academic community in biology.

My stepmother says that they don't really exist. Evil people lie to us and make up stories about fossils and dinosaurs and the age of the Earth. My stepsister and brother are in high school and actually believe that crap! They are going to be so messed up...

What kind of fossils? The kinds that are dated back to like 365 billion years ago or whatever? I'll tell you how we explain them. These dating systems that scientists use are faulty; they are not absolute. And if they were found "infallible," which is of course impossible for man, it is possible that the 6 days which God said it took for him to make the world were not literal. God also says a day is a million years for him. This exact number is probably just a metaphor, but you get the point. Either way, we have to trust God. God bless.

It is common knowledge among honest evolutionists today that Darwin's concept of gradualism via natural selection is no longer accepted in the realm of academia to explain the fossil record. Allow me to briefly exemplify by letting the following evolutionists speak for themselves:

[Stanley, Steven M., 'Macroevolution: Pattern and Process' (San Francisco: W.H. Freeman and Co., 1979), 332p.]

The known fossil record fails to document a single example of phyletic evolution accomplishing a major morphologic transition and hence offers no evidence that the gradualistic model can be valid. (p.39)

[Raup, David M., "Evolution and the Fossil Record," 'Science,' vol. 213 (July 17, 1981)]

So, the geological time scale and the basic facts of biological change over time are totally independent of evolution theory. (p.289)

[Ridley, Mark, "Who Doubts Evolution?" 'New Scientist,' vol.90 (June 25, 1981), pp.830-832. Ridley was in the Department of Zoology at Oxford University.]

In any case, no real evolutionist, whether gradualistic or punctuationist, uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of the theory of evolution as opposed to special creation....(p.831)

This being the case, the Bible alone provides the only satisfactory (and scientifically acceptable) historical explanation for the myriad of lifeforms catastrophically encased in water-deposited, sedimentary rock found at all altitudes and on all continents--a global Flood! In Genesis 6:17, the LORD warns of this hydraulic cataclysm which would overtake all terrestrial life on the planet (except for those on the Ark), eventually burying, preserving, and ultimately fossilizing a great many of them in the sediments according to their respective ecological elevations.

"And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and everything that is in the earth shall die." (Gen.6:17; read also Gen.7:17-24 and 2 Peter 3:3-6)

Thus, though the word "fossil" is not used in the Bible, the Scriptures do record their cause, a prediction of creation-science which can be verified by observation and study.

From me, a Christian,

Fossils are the mineralized remains of animals or plants or other traces such as footprints. The totality of fossils and their placement in rock formations and sedimentary layers (strata) is known as the fossil record. The study of fossils is called paleontology.

They can't. You might as well ask them to explain why the Bible appears to view the world as a flat land mass.
