You seat people at the ceremony.
Note that you are not a groomsman (unless your groom friend is completely clueless and has confused the two). Groomsmen in general support the groom and are part of the wedding party procession. They also usually go to any bachelor parties and the rehearsal dinner.

An Usher is responsible for greeting the guests and making sure they are seated either Grooms side or Brides side and to give the guests any program (if any) You may need to bring the runner down the aisle before the bride steps on it. You are like the bouncer of weddings!

Find out from your buddy exactly what you are supposed to do. Some may only need you to seat the guests (bride on the left facing the front, groom on the right facing the front), or just stand beside them at their wedding.
If you are the best man you do the wedding toast, and hold one or both wedding rings. Plan the bachelor party (if any). Assist groom.

At the ceremony, its your duty to sit the women down in the church or whereever they get married. You sit them on the sides if there with the bride, right side and groom left side. THen you make sure and seat the grandparents right before the ceremony is about to start.. Pretty much you help out with seating and make sure that the bride is comfortable.

First you need to know which side is the bride's, and which side is the groom's. You need to know family members, so that you can seat them in the first pews reserved for family.Your duties may also extend to the reception if it is at a different location.

First of all, make sure he gets to the church on time or wherever the wedding is at, make sure he is soberish..(nothing wrong with a shot or two before), make sure the ring is taken care of, as to who has it, batch party has to be at least two days before wedding not the night before that never turns out well, NO STRIPPERS.....AGAIN NO STRIPPERS....that is an open invitation to a bad start to a marriage....
Then you have to be sober and upon entry to church you have to ask friend of bride or groom and seat them accordingly (brides friends and family on one side, grooms on the other), make sure you know who the relatives are ahead of time and seat them up front...unless otherwise noted...
Lastly, have fun...hey it's a wedding, and don't sleep with the bride between now and then, that never goes well either!!!!LOL
