I try to be as nice as possible to all people. I think giving respect to others no matter what they believe (unless their beliefs hurt others) shows that you are a good person. While you do not have to agree, you can just show respect. There are too many angry, judgemental people in the world. Why not just be respectful and move on.

Science has proven (as far as current 'proof' is decided by scientists) many famous, respected scientists to be partly or completely wrong in some of their key ideas. The elegance of their arguments may still stand though even if the conclusion now seems to be wrong.
I'm not sure why you made this question seem personal: 'If u love them'. Why do you care what science thinks if you love somebody? (Unless they work in science and what they are doing is endangering somebody's life?)
Most people simply aren't very clever, even the ones who think they are clever.

You should respect people for more than their beliefs. If someone believed the Earth was flat, but they were still a nice, hard-working, generous, loving person, wouldn't you respect them? I would. Who cares what other people believe? What matters is how we treat others.

You don't have to respect someones beliefs even if science DIDN'T prove them wrong.

It would depend on what you mean by Proof. Is the person a wiccan or a druid or something? Do they believe the earth is flat? Evolution, although the evidence is overwhelming, is not proven as much as it is widely accepted as a scientific fact. Therefore, while I do not accept the literal story of creation, I think there is still room to respect those that do.
If you are having trouble with a person who believes that the earth is flat, well, you can't argue with a fool.

Some people have made up their minds and all of the technical or scientific details won't convince them otherwise.
Especially if it's an older person set in their ways...particularly in the discussion topic of religion.
I would avoid the conflict and keep on the quest for knowledge without involving anyone who won't change their mind anyhow.

You don't have to do anything of the sort, but if you want to have friends, you will have to respect their beliefs... even if they're wrong.
