Right click on document and "send to compressed (zipped) folder".

Saving a document and compressing a zip file are typically 2 distinct tasks. If you don't already have a zip agent (like Winzip, Windows XP built-in, etc.) you can get a free (and very powerful) application at www.7zip.org
