I am at a loss does anyone know how I find out the right codec and how I would get it?

go to microsoft.com and do a search for codecs. You really don't want to download them from other sources as you don't know what else was included (like a trojan).

You need to find the extention of the file, WM player dosent play all extentions you might want to try another program or convert the video into a popular format like mpeg 4. GOOD LUCK!

download media player 11 and its codecs from microsoft.com on media tab

go to divx.com and download the newest version of divx and install it , i had the same problem a while ago and that worked because divx comes with all the new codecs u need

Here's what I did to fix my windows Sukey media player.
Deleted it and loaded Jet Audio and I have not had anymore problems since.
