You need to prioritize. First, you need to report the abuse to the cops. You can ask for an officer to accompany you to retrieve your belongings, but there's no guarantee that one'll be available. Next, you need to seek an ex-parte, or whatever it's called there. It's an emergency temporary restraining order. Get an attorney and file for divorce. Open a new checking account that's yours alone, and ask the credit card companies if you can reinstate the accounts. You may wish to just open new ones because if he catches wind that they're open again, he might just call and close again.
Cover your back, so to speak, and get done what needs to be done. Don't waste any time in this as time is your enemy right now. In matters of divorce, the one who strikes first has the better odds.

I can't speak on California law but here we have to have an order from a judge specifically stating a law enforcement officer has to go with the victim to retrieve property. If that order doesn't specify what property is to be taken we usually only allow the victim to get things he/she will need to 'survive' as in clothing, toiletries, etc. I would imagine that to be the case in California but am unsure. I would suggest you speak with someone at a domestic abuse shelter and/or your local law enforcement agency. I must commend you though on taking action by getting out of a potentially dangerous situation as so many women stay in those types of situations thinking 'he will change'. Good luck and may God bless you.

Simple, call the local PD (city or county, whichever your jurisdiction) and ask for a civl standby... they do it all the time.

If he throws out or damages any of your stuff (or the community property) he is liable and can be sued in small claims court, including any money in joint accounts. You can also get a protection order (restraining order) if you are really afraid, you can make up an inventory of your stuff and the judge at the hearing for restraining order will order him to surrender it..LOTS of options.

Make a report, file for divorce (get urself an attorney) don't talk to him, to see him, nothing. Get ur retraining order and even if he doesn though out ur stuff u have the ability to go to civil court for ur personal belongings, but you'll need proof that the items are urs, or at least u paid for them. You will need proof that all accounts, and credit cards were both urs. The more proof u have the better when it comes to court. Remember, he can say he'll never hit u again, but if he did it once...HE'LL DO IT AGAIN!!!
Do not trust him, he'll hit u again, get out while u still can and even if u leave with less stuff, remember it is only stuff.

No he can't just throw away things that he has no right too. For example he could throw away your silverware because he has an interest in it but he can't throw away your underware or jewlery, if ya get what i mean. As far as a police escort, i highly doubt that. you would need at least a restraning order (which i recomend you do) and he would have to posses a grave danger to your life (like he tried killing you before) I hope things go better for you and that you don't meet another scumbag like that

Part of it is about location -- Vegas, Calie, & Miami have services. Part of it is about orientation: Is he straight, bi or gay? Straight guys aren't in high demand and the women who want them tend to be old, ugly or into fetishes that are too strange to talk about with their partners. Gay guys tend to get a lot more business. If he isn't gay and has a nice body, he might want to consider stripping or masturbation via web cam. (At most web-cam outfits, clients are men, but he won't see them and they won't see the straight porn that he's using to get aroused so he can masturbate.) An upside to both these options are that they're legal and a hell of a lot safer than having sex with anonymous partners.

Dear Ms concerned;

In fact no poloce officer will escort you anywhere but the slamer.
However, you may apply for a restaining order so that he will not come near you or you may hire a bodyguard!
Good Luck.

This question was stupid. How such a thought process can be present in a human being is beyond my understanding.
