Here's a lesson for ya: Anything that evolved into something else means that the former thing does not exist anymore (i.e., if monkeys are still here that means they haven't evolved into anything (yet)).
So... what's that tell ya? That humans do NOT come from monkeys. In fact, they are our cousins. Monkeys, apes, etc. and humans have a common ancestor. Now THAT common ancestor, nowadays when looked at, *could* be called a monkey.
Dodos went extinct.

I concur with Hydrogenknight's answer, and
"The dodo was a flightless bird native only to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. The dodo was a flightless member of the pigeon family. Fully grown dodos weighted about 23 kg (50 pounds). Around 1505 the Portuguese became the first Europeans to discover the dodo. By 1681 it had been driven to extinction by humans and the feral dogs, pigs, rats, and monkeys introduced by Europeans to Mauritius.
"The dodo was not the only Mauritian bird driven to extinction in recent centuries. Of the 45 bird species originally found, only 21 still survive. Two bird species closely related to the dodo also became extinct: the Réunion solitaire (raphus solitarius). by 1746, and the Rodrigues solitaire (pezophaps solitaria) by 1790. Reports of sightings of living dodos in the 1990s on Mauritius prompted William J. Gibbons to mount expeditions to search for them. None were found. "

You see those so called monkeys decided to have Dodo killing contests. Whom do you think would have won? The monkeys at first tried to eat Dodo meat found it too tough and since the birds were dimwitted they made a sport out of it. I ask again who would have come out on top?

Like people some animals are slower and better suited to their size as for the dodos they were all killed by man before they were able to evolve and fly away

Dodos were the end of the line. Just because something evolves doesn't necessarily eliminate the link.

Why do you theists keep asking this type of question?
We evolved from a type of monkey, that monkey no longer exists, why? Because we evolved from it.
The dodos are extinct because we ate them to extinction.
They must have been good.
I wonder if they tasted like baptists'?
