It is really starting to irritate me that some of the "poor" population because of various reasons like myself are genuinely in pain, but it's next to impossible to get good medication. Dr;s assume you are only trying to get it because of the bad rep, most people who don't need it and just want it to sell, have given the poor peoples insurance system, how can I get a doctor to listen to me?

It's because of the ridiculous "war on drugs" that doctors are afraid of prescribing medication to their patients.

I've talked to a lot of people in chronic pain before and someone genuinely needs to start writing letters and petitioning the state representatives to ease the prescription drug restraints that leave so many Americans in pain with a diminished quality of life.

If you are in pain, you might have to resort to measures that a lot of people do...going to the emergency room or walk-in clinics or utilize a consulting service over the internet.

I love how a lot of people complain about Medicaid and other forms of state insurance, what most folks don't understand is that the care patients on these types of insurance have to live with is sub standard and highly monitored. It's basically like giving a person on a two week hike through the desert just barely enough water to keep them alive...but not enough to make them feel like they're even going to make it.

I know a few people who run into the same problem.. Doctors assuming anyone asking for better pain relief must be an addict. One of my best g/fs has Fibromyalgia, and has dealt with this for 20-some years, and only two years ago.. I had heard of a doctor who was actually sympathetic and willing to prescribe patients with what they really need, so I told her about this dr. Luckily it turned out to be true and she's been properly medicated ever since! So, I guess what I'm saying is ask around, someone out there will know of a doctor.. and as long as you have records to show your chronic pain.. like my friend did.. then you'll find one. Also, developing a good relationship with your dr is impt. too.. if you just go from dr to dr.. they will always assume the worst. Oh and btw.. Its not the "poor" population.. or any such thing.. addiction know NO boundaries.

The fact of the matter is that it has nothing to do with being poor. Dr.'s have specific things that they look for to see if a patients pain is as bad as they say it is. Studies show time and time again, that patients tend to exagerate pain or symptoms when they go to the DR. Your doctor probably doesn't want to give you strong pain medications for a bunch of reasons, non of them being because your poor. Some reasons are as follows.
#1 he/she doesn't think you are in enough pain to merit strong narcotic medications.
#2 he/she believes that your pain is real, but it is always going to be there, and seeing how pain medication doesn't cure pain, it only hides it, there would be no point of getting you hooked on a medicine that could damage your health worse.
#3 he/she has recomended physical therapy, which you most likely refused. So they are not going to give you narcotics, if you aren't willing to try to help yourself.
#4 They think you a basically being a baby
#5 They have perscribed a "lesser" pain medication which you probably didn't finish taken or stoped taking, so it didn't get a chance to work properly. Thus, making your pain worse.

I don't know what being poor has to do with it? Anyone can be an addict trying to get pain meds to get high and that has hurt the people who have real, chronic pain issues. "Poor people's insurance system"...what is that?

If you have a real condition that requires narcotics for pain control and you haven't found a doctor that will help you--then you need to keep looking. They are out there.

Chiropractor is extra organic than pills and surgical technique. i might stick w/ the chiro... you will not remorseful approximately it. And in case you think of they're costly, classic procedures as you state are far extra costly. I had a pinched nerve that made my perfect hand bypass numb. After 5 visits the numbness became virtually long gone. by the seventh i became healed. Been stable in view that. comparable component occurred years in the past yet became a crick in my neck. returned, 4 visits and that i became healed. Chiropractor isn't a quack wellness care provider as many call them. they look on the physique with easy good judgment. For all issues are linked. next time you're in his place of work, discover the huge physique chart displaying bones, organs and nerves. you will see how a pinched nerve in one spot would reason soreness someplace else. classic procedures in simple terms concentration on component to soreness and provide pills to treatment. pills in simple terms mask the soreness, under no circumstances curing it. the place chiropractor see's the soreness, yet then is going to the place the project extremely is. And cracking of joints and such does not reason matters later like the previous different halves tale speaks of. Cracked my palms, ft, neck for all times, and at 38 I have not have been given any issues.
