cut in half and throw one piece away now and other piece next week that way even if someone found it in garbage it would be useless since other piece is not there.

Cutting up the card with scissors will do the trick. Just make sure the #'s are split down the middle so they will be unable to piece the card back together. Hopefully you just want to destroy old cards rather than close the old accounts too. Closing the accounts will shorten your credit history and could hurt your credit score.

If you get a cross-cut shredder it will shred that credit card to 1" strips... Works Great!

There's a new shredder thing out that I saw and it's made specifically to protect you against identity theft and things like that. It shreds junk mail, credit cards, and all sorts of other things that you wouldn't want others to get a hold of. I think you can get it at Staples.

You should cut them up with a scissors and then throw them into a fire place or burn pile. If you don't have either, then when you cut them up make sure you scatter the remains into different trash bags.

with a pair of scissors and 'snip!' you cut it in half and then once again in half... good luck on that! it must be horrible to have your credit card destroyed like that! let alone doing it yourself! ohhh!
