I am an Orthodox Christian, and it shd be my duty to confess b4 Christmas, but I just don't feel like telling all my sins in front of a MAN. I want to talk directly to God, in fact, I've always done so. Other OC's may chastise me for this, but I don't really give a damn. I will meet Christmas with as pure a heart as I can!

No. I can go directly to God to ask for forgiveness. In the old testament the temple was where the believers worshiped. God dwelled in the center of the temple so you were in a more holy part of the temple as you walk closer to the center. The most holy place in the temple was separated by a curtain. It was so holy that only the high priest could go in there and only once a year. When Jesus was crucified that curtain was torn. It was a symbol that there was no longer a need for a mediator between God and man. Man can go straight to God through Jesus.

Yes, I will.

I DO have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and I confess my sins to a priest because that is how Jesus wanted us to do it. Nearly all of the miracles Jesus performed was after a public declaration of faith.

When He rose from the dead, the first thing He did was to give His disciples the authority to forgive and retain sins. In order to know which sins to forgive and which ones to retain, the priest must hear the sins and the sincerity of the person confessing.

I understand and respect the need for Catholics to attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but I don't believe that the "Keys to the Kingdom" have been conferred in that manner. I boldly approach the throne through my Savior Jesus Christ and confess my sins directly.

I think you should address Catholics in particular as not every Christian sect believes that you need to confess to a priest or some other church hierarch in order for God to hear it. No I confess my sins to God himself and he is the only one who can truly judge me.

That's mostly a Catholic thing. If you have something to confess you confess it directly to God. If need be then you go to a Pastor, the Bible does say "confess your sins one to another".

Probably not. I'm an Episcopalian, and we do have the Rite of Reconciliation (a.k.a. Confession), but I usually save it and confess just before Lent, often on Shrove Tuesday.

Uh, no. Christians don't go to Confession, we have a personal relationship with our Savior and can just talk to Him directly.
