i know to wash with cold water, dont use too much heat, but is there anything else i can do to keep my red hair from fadeing so fast? any hair products thaty work good, or dyes that stay really well?

I hope you have shampoo and conditioner for colored hair. Get color treated shampoo if you dont have it. Shampoo that works for me is Bain de Terre Kiwi color treated shampoo. Sun fades color too. Heat from a straightener can also do it.

It's going to depend on what kind of product you used to dye your hair red, what kind of shampoo you use and how much damage you do to your hair. Keep it WELL conditioned. I personally like the Redken shampoos for color treated hair. They work nicely and aren't WAY expensive.

The permanent colors have staying power without residue coloring your pillows and hair color fading as fast. But you have to repeat coloring so often to maintain it that you wreck your hair cuticle! And wind up with frizzies and broken hair eventually. I would use rinses and put covers on my pillow cases. Save your hair!
