The average is 2000 per day, so to lose weight, try to consume less than 2000, and also exercise.

Your body weight Times 12 is the amount of calories you can eat in a day and stay the same weight. If you weigh 200 lbs you can eat 2400 cals a day to stay at 200. If you droped that down to 2000 a day you sould start losing weight. Each lb of weight has about 3300 cals in it. So if you should lose about 1 pound a week if these figures were yours.

You should eat 100 calories per pound to maintain your current weight. So if you are looking to lose weight you sould cut that in half. For example, if you weigh 180 lbs, you would eat 1800 calories to keep that weight. To lose weight, cut that in half and eat 900 calories a day. Stay away from pork products and fats, such as butter and oil. Good luck!

I try not to have more than 1200 if I'm trying to lose weight.
"Create a Calorie Deficit -- In order to lose weight, you must create a calorie deficit. It is easier and healthier to cut back your calorie intake a little bit at a time. Every 3,500 calories is equivalent to 1 pound. If you cut back 500 calories a day, you will lose 1 pound per week. If you exercise to burn off 500 calories a day you will also lose 1 pound per week. Ideally, you should do a combination of both, (e.g. cut back 250 calories; burn an extra 250 calories)."

3500 calories = 1 pound. So if you want to lose weight at the safe rate of 2 pounds per week, cut calories and work out - aim to cut 800 - 1000 per day. Cut out soda/sweet drinks and hit the gym for 30 minutes a day. For some people, this is enough because of all the soda they drink.

Try this website, caloriesperhour.com. It has a calculator which when you input your weight and other things, it will give you how many calories you probably burn in a day, and that can help you decide how much to consume in order to lose weight

You have to find out how many calories you burn and then eat less... there are many charts on the internet that will show you how to calculate how much exercise will burn how many calories. Then you have to watch what you eat and take in less than you burn. That's how you lose weight.

To lose one (1) pound of fat, you need to burn 3,500 calories. That means you either have to reduce your calorie intake, or increase your exercize or both. On average, you can safely lose about 1.5 to 2 pounds a week at the outside. Preferably less if you plan to keep it off.
