Republicans are the party for family values they are morally stronger, right? However, statistics say differently of the top 15 states for divorce rates all 15 voted for Bush. Of the 12 lowest, 11 states voted Kerry. Once again Republicans I congratulate on your hypocrisy. Next time you pile your kids in your gas guzzling SUV, I anticipate it will be to Divorce Court.

askthepizzaguy - most of the bar hopping floozies I know are Republican. I am not saying they all are, but that's just who I know. And I'm not moderate as a liberal, but I am happily married, have been for quite some time now, have never been divorced, etc.
I agree that it is silly for any party to tout themselves as the moral one. Get real. Politicans aren't usually paragons of virtue, and conservative or liberal, we all know it.
Armygirl, get over it. We're not all on welfare. I come from a very liberal family, had a single mother who got like $100/month to support 2 of us, and we NEVER once used ANY welfare, including food stamps, food pantries, or help from family. She actually saved for like 3 years to flat out buy a new car, because she has perfect credit, but felt it would be silly to have interest when she could use that money for her kids. She worked in a ceramics store, but still managed to give us everything we wanted or needed, and she never whined, complained, or asked for a handout. I know people from both political sides that wouldn't have been that strong.
Incidentally, fewer people in general are getting married now. There was just a huge report on it. It's a nationwide trend, not just a liberal thing.

Could we see the report or is this just something you heard on the radio? Do you have a source for these stats? Then we might be able to tell how true this is. By the way, it doesn't really matter.
Now that I've seen some of the stats and its really quite pointless to read them all as it really doesn't matter, but conveniently according to your second source, California and Louisiana don't report their divorce statistics. This is nice because they are two of the bluest states in the union aside from Massachusetts and New York. Wonder what the stats would look like with those two.
It also says Indiana and Colorado, more right-leaning don't report, but a relatively few number of people live there so it probably would not impact the stats as much as the other two. But the only thing I can really say is SO WHAT! Of course not being a republican or democrat it kind of makes it easy to view all this as a bunch of political posturing that matters very little in the long run.
Also liberals are probably less likely to get married and thus it is easier to refrain from divorce. And I will drive my gas-guzzling SUV as much as I want thank you very little. I like my car and I like the way it drives. If you don't like SUV's don't buy one, but please don't get all huffy-puffy and try to tell me what car I should drive for you know nothing about me or the work I do. Also, I don't anticipate on going to divorce court any time soon. Thanks and have a nice day.

As usual the repubs can't handle the truth that people can see through the hypocracy they push. So they attack the messanger typical. The real reason for the red state divorce rates being so high is that the family down there is left to rot by their states. This is done in the name of individual responsibility and to keep taxes low. This policy only adds to the stress on families and as a result more of their families break up. The low wages in republican states don;t help either.

The republican party has morphed into the party of greed and hate. It is a composite of the very wealthy and the ignorant and bitter. The wealthy know how to manipulate the poor white trash, who make up most of their party, by selling them on whatever they think will get them to the ballot box: racism, televangelism, gun rights, whatever. The democratic party tries to do what is right. Their stances include helping people, protecting the environment, making peace in the world and making this country a better place.

It doesn't matter. Are you telling me that you actually believe that it was just a coincidence that the two candidates were members of Skull and Bones(the Order of Death). Give me a break there are 3 million people in the United States, you can't tell me that it was just dumb luck that the candidates were cousins and members of Skull and Bones.

Where did you find these "facts"? How biased was the source?
My husband and I are doing just fine, thanks for your concern. And I do drive a gas-guzzler....because we own a farm and need to haul critters and tractors. So take your judgmental attitude and shove it!
Perhaps you should study up on tolerance and understanding - that's what liberals are supposedly famous for.
