my newborn baby had the same skin condition...it's kinda like baby acne but there is no cure for it. I went to the pediatrician and she said there is nothing you can really do but just clean it and moisturize it. It will go away soon. It took me like almost two months before it started to go away...

ANYTHING with a newborn call the doctor. They are very delicate.

However it sounds like baby acne. Unfortunate, no cure, goes away when it does. My son had it terribly, my mother said I did too. It felt like it went too long to go away, but once it was gone I forgot about it.

I don't know if this matters, but we were both breast fed for a very short time then switched to milk-based formula, then the problems started. I was told to switch my son to soy based formula, and that helped the skin, but constipated him, which required another additive to the bottle.

So, call the doctor. :-)

it's probably the same rash that all newborns get, but check with the doc just to put your mind at ease. I remember that with my daughter, if I ate chocolate her face broke out a bit worse (I was nursing) - but it was no big deal.

Maybe it is psoriasis. Perhaps you should take her/him to the doctor?
