I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OTHER OPINIONS ABOUT EACH BRANCH OF THE MILITARY.

The Army is often low brow, scraping the bottom of the barrel for enough troops, but also the most diverse with a wide variety of career options. The Marines is the most proud of all, once a Marine, always a Marine, and they often take the brunt of most major combat. The Navy... ... do we still have a Navy? Oh yeah, the Chinese sub snuck up on them the other day.... I don't know why anybody would want to be in the Navy unless they love boats and being out to sea. The Air Force is a very political nearly civilian organization, except for security forces who are practically in the Army...

So it depends on what you want to do, and what you like. Air Force is most corporation-like, while Army's most blue-collar... If you have any specific questions, write me...

The Army and Marines are looking for a strong back.

The Navy and Air Force are a more professional branch.

I served in the Marines and if I had it to do all over again I would chose the Coast Guard, no kidding. Out of all the branches you will have the best family life with the Coast Guard, and it pays the same.

If you just want to kill 4 years I would say the Navy. You will get to see and visit places most others only read or dream about.

If you want to do your 4 years get an educationn or training and come out, the Air Farce cannot be beat. They are great. Great food, no real training, no real combat. If you want to fight and get up in the front, join the Army. If you are looking for glory be a Marine and if you are looking for experiences in traveling around the world join the Navy. But if you are looking to be a hot dog and have experiences that you will never have anywhere else, if you want to be tested as a man and as a human and have something that very few other people will ever have, join the Navy and get into the SEALS. There is nothing like it. WHOYAH

What do you want to get out of it?

That is one of the questions I use to ask the kids that came and see me. I'm retired AF and recruited for the AF for 10 years.

I havent looked at the answers that have already been posted, but your going to get different answers from everybody and those answers will most likely be biased based on if they have family members or if they themselves are in that branch of the military.

Your best bet is to visit each service. None of them will be able to promis you anything except the opportunity for you to have and use the programs that are offered to you while you are in the service. If you don't use those opportunities, you have no one to blame but yourself.

My husband is a disabled Vietnam Vet that was in the Navy. His brother was in the Army in Vietnam. My Father and Brother are in the Marine Corps. So to be honest don't join the military, go Air Force. Smile

I would go with the navy. While the army promotes faster on paper, the navy seems to do this in practice. In the army, they'll tell you that your primary job is rifleman, but it's really warm body. I've been in the army for just over four years, and done my job for about a total of a year.

Its not so much about the branch than the job. Are you after a career? go air force. They have a bit of everything, depending what you are after.
