We basically do the generic, no frills breakfast., i.e., eggs, bacon, hash browns, and biscuits with pancakes for whomever wants them...after all any homemade breakfast is special, because we usually have things like cereal everyday. What is the most special is that everyone is there and we have to make room for even more kids who come home just for the special breakfast on Christmas morning! Prayers and Merry Christmas!

Every year:
A huge pot of scrambled eggs and chopped ham, hash browns and O'brien potatoes, and lots of big, fresh biscuits. Lots of butter and homemade jams & jellies on the side. Coffee, OJ, and Bloody Marys.
We have breakfast for 15-20 people every Christmas morning. We start opening gifts at 700am and it takes us about 3 hours. Everyone is famished by the time the breakfast is ready (we usually scramble at least 3 dozen eggs) so everything tastes
SO GOOD.
This has been my family's Christmas morning tradition for better than 40 years.

My mom makes a casserole dish similar to someone else's answer. It is called a Birder's Breakfast and has all the breakfast ingredients layered into a baking dish. You make it the night before, let it sit in the fridge overnight then throw it in the oven Christmas morning. This is the only time of year we splurge on this meal!! Hash browns, bacon, sausage, eggs...
yummy

Nothing, I plan on sleeping as well. However, if you are looking for some ideas, go away from the traditional and serve an assortment of fruits, breads, and cheeses. Change things up with a more European style breakfast. A lighter breakfast will make everyone happy when they eat the heavy meals later. :)

Museli
Ingredients
2 handfuls of porridge oats
8 dried apricots
6 dried dates
A handful of sultanas
12 cashew nuts
1 eating apple
soya milk
plain soya yoghurt
fresh blueberries
This is best prepared the night before.
Chop all of the dried fruit and cashew nuts into small pieces. Mix them together in a dish with the porridge oats.
Pour over soya milk until the mixture is covered. Peel, core and grate the apple and mix into the muesli mixture.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning stir the mixture and add a few spoonfuls of plain soya yoghurt and a handful of blueberries.

We usually do a butterscotch pull-apart. Some people call it "monkey bread". Here's one recipe.
55 min 20 min prep. time.
about 10 servings:
1 (3 ounce) package butterscotch pudding mix, not instant
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 packages refrigerated biscuits (or frozen bread rolls defrosted)
Combine pudding mix, sugar, and pecans.
Put butter in a shallow bowl.
Cut biscuits in quarters.
Dip, biscuit pieces in butter, then pudding mix, placing them in a tube pan.
Keep stacking until all pieces are done.
Bake at 350* for 30-35 minutes.
Cool in pan for 30 minutes; invert (flip over) onto plate

We usually do eggs, hash browns, french toast, coffee and OJ. But there has been a few Christmas mornings we have not done anything because we have just started munching on left over stuff from Christmas eve.

We usually have a savory breakfast casserole, but this year my 11 year old and 15 year old have requested homemade cinnamon rolls, so that is what we will have!
Merry Christmas!
