And how would I go about getting everyone's permission? Would I have to make up contracts or something and have everyone sign? What about the ppl that are barely in there? Should I only get the main ppls consent?

If you are writing a fictional piece, you don't have to. If it is one based on fact, you have to have written permission....there could be battles with this, freedom of speech, slander, etc....but for factual material, you do. If you change the names, that is crossing over into another territory....

No, but if it gets published and the information is negative you may find yourself in a libel suit.

yes it would be wise to do so especially if they are well known and likely to be recognised by there achievements etc
