I am a beginner, and would like to try making a cheesecake for an upcoming holiday party. Are they fairly easy, or should I just settle with cookies?

Thank you! Considering I am using a ready-made crust, it should be even easier than you make it sound.

chick4, this is the recipe I am using:
(Easy-to-Bake Cookbook, recipes compiled by Publications International, Ltd.)

: 2 pkgs Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
: 1/2 cup sugar
: 1/2 tsp. vanilla
: 2 eggs
: 20 KRAFT caramels
: 2 tablespoons milk
: 1/2 cup chopped pecans
: 1 Honey Maid Graham pie crust

1) Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs; mix until blended. Melt caramels with milk on low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Stir in pecans.

2) Pour caramel mixture into crust. Pour cream cheese batter over caramel mixture.

3) Bake at 350 deg.F for 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool. Refridgerate 3 hours or overnight. Garnish as desired.

If you do decide to try it out, please remember to email me and tell me how it went! :-)

They arer easy and there are tons of easy recipes out there. Buy a nonstick spring form pan though or you will have a disaster on your hands! Good luck!

i have a recipe for unbaked cheese cake which is no fail'''use spring form pan a large one will make the slices thinner and a small pan will make the slices thicker...choose the one you like ..for the crust mix 2 2/3 cups graham crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup butter or marg, either at room temp or melted, mix well and press into the pan bake at 350 for 7-8 minutes.. remove to cool...in a bowl beat 8 oz.pkg of cream cheese(soft),til smooth add 1 can sweetened condensed milk, half at a time .beat til smooth, add 1/3 cup lemon juice & 1 teaspoon vanilla.all at once into the cream mix, beat well, this will thicken as you beat it..then pour it onto the crust & chill it ...the easiest way to serve it is a can of cherry pie filling ...but you can kick it up by adding instead sliced fresh fruit..try kiwi fruit and a can of mandarin orange slices...

Cheesecakes are sooooo much easier to make than cookies. You can have a no-bake cheesecake or bake them depending on the recipe. You have so many choices. You can have a chocolate cheesecake (I love oreo cheesecakes myself) or top it with blueberries or other fruit filling. They're just like cakes but with a yummy graham cracker crust. To make it easier on yourself, just buy the graham crust ready made. It's easy to make it yourself, but why go through the hassle. Cheesecakes are easier than pie. They're just cakes made with cream cheese.
For recipes, you can try allrecipes.com or recipezaar.com. When you buy any of the ingredients though, they usually have recipes on the package. Example on the graham crust or on the Philadelphia cream cheese box.
Good luck!

People go crazy with my cheesecake and it's very easy. You have to make it 24 hours before the party and you need:
- juice of one lemon
- cookies ("Digesta", in my country)
- butter
- Cream Cheese
- Condensed milk
- strawberry jam

Mix the butter and the cookies and put it on a plate.
Then, mix the cheese with the condensed milk and the juice of one lemon.
Put it into the fridge.
When it's time to serve, spread the jam.
It's delicious!

They are pretty easy, just remember that if it looks done, it's overdone. You want to take it out of the overn when there is still about an inch of middle that doesn't look done. The residual heat from the rest of the cake will finish up the middle. And don't over beat it in the mixer either. Beat until just combined and it'll be nice and silky.

Good luck!

They are really easy. If you dont want it to crack place a casserole dish of boiling water in the oven with the cheesecake while it bakes.
