im working on mag fed paintball gun. I got a few questions about real gun mags. How do the bullets stay in the mag when the mag isnt attached to the gun and how do they get into the chamber when it is time to shoot. Also how does the mag attach to the gun? If you have any helpful info or websites id appreciate it

Mags have springs in the bottom to aid the next round into the chamber. But the spent cartrige has to be ejected first. Handguns typically use a blowback system off the previous fire to achieve this so I don't know how you can accomplish this with a paintball gun. The magazine attaches with a matching notch and groove on the mag and frame, respectively.

Gun mags have springs in them that push the bullets upwards. When one bullet is shot out of the gun, the bold cycles back and the catch pin on the bolt pulls a round of the magazine and chambers it. In order for it to work in a paintball gun, you would have to have a moderately powerful spring with a flat piece on top of it, I can't think of anyway for the paintballs to stay in the mag when not in the pb gun and still be fed into the paintball gun properly.

A MAGAZINE HAS A FOLLOWER AND A SPRING
THE FOLLOWER IS A PLATFORM THAT HOLDS THE SPRING IN AND ALLOWS IT TO PUSH UP AGAINST THE BULLETS AS THEY ARE LOADED INTO THE MAGAZINE
THERE IS A SMALL PART OF THE MAGAZINE HOUSING THAT IS BENT OVER SLIGHTLY TO KEEP THE BULLETS FROM JUST POPPING OUT.
THE MAGAZINE IS HELD IN PLACE BY A SPRING LOADED CATCH INSIDE THE FRAME OF THE GUN
AS THE ACTION MOVES FORWARD THE BOLT PUSHES A BULLET CASE FORWARD PAST THE RETAINER PIECE OF THE MAGAZINE ALLOWING IT TO SPRING UP OUT OF THE MAGAZINE AND BE PUSHED UP THE FEED RAMP AND INTO BATTERY
THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGAZINE RELEASE MECHANISMS USED IN DIFFERENT GUNS BUT ALL DO THE SAME JOB, TO KEEP THE MAGAZINE LOCKED IN PLACE TILL THE RELEASE IS ACTIVATED ALLOWING FOR REMOVAL.
ANOTHER TYPE OF MAGAZINE IS A TUBE FEED TYPE THAT HOLDS THE BULLETS IN LINE IN A SMALL TUBE UNDER THE BARREL.
THEY ARE HELD IN PLACE BY A SHELL STOP WHICH RELEASES ONE BULLET AT A TIME FROM THE TUBE AND IS LIFTED UP TO THE CHAMBER BY AN ELEVATOR OR CARRIER AS THE ACTION IS WORKED.

Gun magazines work just like all magazines. You open it, read from left to right, turn page, read again, and so on.
