if you look at the front of the ambulance truck, the name (ambulance)..is upside down.

I think you meant that the name is backwards instead of upside down. The reason is because they want cars and trucks in front of the ambulance to be able to read the sign in the rear-view mirror. The mirror reverses everything from left to right to right to left.

It's not upside down, it's backwards... so you can read it in your rearview mirror.. The ones that are upside down are for when you don't get out of the way and they run over yer a $$, you can look up to see what it was!
