Hi, Would it make any difference they are so closed minded about events before the Reformation and think that everybody else is going to Hell but that they are saved?
This closed mindset approach to Christianity has caused great divisions in the faith and as they believe that they are morally and spiritually superior, you cannot reason with them.
In actual fact there is only one church that was founded on the Apostle St.Peter and that is the Catholic church and you cannot have two bodies of Christ, it is not possible, so in actual fact Protestants are actually schismatic Catholics and have placed themselves outside of the true church.

Most people in general would, I think. Whether people like it or not, Christianity has shaped the Western world in countless ways.

And more specifically, I second Father K. That too would show a side of church history along with theology that very few people ever see.

Is that a specific title? I've taken college courses in the history of Christianity, several in the history if western thought, and I have many books on Christian history, including the several volume set by Philip Schaff.

It would be much better for them to take a college-level course in Patristics - or start reading the works of the Apostolic Fathers, both Ante- and Post- Nicene Fathers.

Heck yes! Most are fantastically ignorant about how their faith and their bible came to be. As if the bible sprang whole out of King James back in the day. And if they knew what a creep James was....!
