For example: They are taught what happened 2000 years ago, They are taught what happened 300 years ago,
But they have absolutely no clue to what happened in the 1700 years in between?

Mark777, I just go on my own personal experience...I've yet to meet an American Evangelical/Fundamentalist/Baptist/ etc who knows jack squat about Christian Church history.

In my experience, Protestants seem to know little about Catholicism -- which means they know nothing about the history of their religion prior to 1500.
In my experience, most Protestants know nothing about the translation errors of the King James Version of the Bible -- and accept what is written as fact.
In my experience, Protestants do not understand that the Catholic Bible has been unchanged since the 4th century (when it was first assembled). They do not understand that the Protestant Bible is an edited version of the Catholic Bible -- due to the fact that martin Luther threw out several books in the 1500s.

You, by your statment ,know nothing of what a True Christian is
Origin:
The Origin of Christianity is from God. Jesus The Christ
commissioned The Church on The day of Pentacost following His assention to Heaven. However, From Day six of creation it has always been about He who created. And if you do not know who that is I suggest you start your education at John 1:1-3.
From The Day Adam and Eve lost their immortality There has only been One Way for mankind to return to God.... Through Christ.... Since The first Day of The Church, All who come to God in The Way He prescribes receive His free gift of Salvation and become of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are those of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.
History:
Since Christ Assended, and The Church was commisioned, There has been two thousand years of history. TheChurch has been part of that history. act such as Those initiate by The Roman catholics are a part of history but are not in accord with Christian teaching. nor are the many other atrocities that have been carried out by men claiming to be "christian" and invoking the name of God.
Two thousand years of mankind screwing things up and abusing The Church and missusing the title of God and The Name of Jesus The Christ can not be effectivly rebutted in a forum such as this... but... Christianity is in The Heart of those of The True Christian Faith... it is not in a sword or any man invented doctrin or dogma.

The church doesn't teach history, and the public schools teach nothing but American history. Say "1776" or "1492" to any schoolkid and they know why those years are significant. "325", despite being an incredibly crucial date in the history of Christianity and, resultingly, much of the Western world, doesn't get covered. (Or for that matter, 1066, but that's my history-nerd ranting there...)

Are you just assuming that all Protestants do not know the origins and the history of Christianity? I am one and I believe I can speak very intelligently on the subject. I guess I can't answer for everyone.

No.....I believe just the opposite....
We take time to learn our history and how Christianity began with Christ and the History leading up to that event while people like yourself refuse to learn and remain ignorant of all that happened and how important it is to mankind.

Unfortunately, yes we are. And some of the history of Christianity (or what passed for it), expecially during the Middle Ages makes me cringe.
