I can't figure out how to get the dvd picture to appear on the screen. There's nothing in the owners manual that references how to do it. Maybe the tv is too old and is only VCR compatible. Any ideas?

Hook the DVD to the front.
Turn it on.
Put in a disk.
Run "AUTO MEMO" as decribed in your manual.
This will allow the TV to pick up the channel your DVD in on.
Then just push channel up until you get your dvd menu.

Changing the channel does not help what you are looking for is to change the Input source the multiple-input television is to your credit however are you using cables that are the same color coded as the corresponding colors these days on the input jack's and the cables also are required to match. They have not invented a work around for this problem because they don't think that it is a problem.

On older model tv's just channel down, its usually going to be like channel 1. or just find the right button on your remote to change the input. it is usually labeled things like input, a/v, tv/video, and usually on the top left of the remote
