That depends on which group of Satanists you are referring to. There are different groups who use this name. For example, there are some modified Christians who simply feel that focusing on Satan will help them to better fight is evil works. These people are Satanists. They believe in Satan, but don't worship him.

Satanism is a note which has been used over the years to describe distinct diverse conception platforms in distinct contexts. human beings claiming to be Satanists—or outsiders claiming to describe Satanism—ascribe a large kind of beliefs to Satanism. those selection from the literal worship of a malevolent non secular being (Theistic Satanism); to a kind of subversive ritual performance stressing the mockery of Christian symbols (maximum particularly the Black Mass); to the claimed rediscovery of an historic yet misunderstood faith (e.g. Setianism, which conflates devil with the Egyptian god Set); to the exaltation of hedonistic sport, and the social gathering of selfishness and delight. hence it relies upon on who's doing the describing the worshipper or someone from the exterior. interior the context you're relating that is likely a Christian way of describing a faith or conception equipment that conflicts with the Christian one - hence being dubbed satanism as a fashion to mantain some thing except their conception is erroneous and evil.

Yeah, I know that. You know that. But do *they* know that?
LeVeyan Satanists are the kind that don't literally worship the "Satan" portrayed by Christianity. LeVey's teachings are, in my opinion, best described as an atheistic philosophy. Anton LeVey's reason for naming his new religion "Satanism" was because he believed that the Satan of Christianity best represented his belief system.
But, hey, there's a *theistic* Satanism too.

yah, however i find it ironic they are called satanists, when they dont even believe in satan. thats like being called christian and not believing in christ. they need to find a name that better suits them. unless they like to be misleading to those who dont understand them, lol.
