It's entirely normal. The thing about it is that many people are socially reclusive until they reach their twenties and often it stems from questions of self identity or mild insecurities.
Also, at 14, there's a lot going on for you right now. Boys only complicate things and in a lot of ways it can be incredibly frustrating dating while you're younger. It's not until someone reaches maturity that you really know what they're like anyway, so don't think that you should be obligated to date and interact.
It's great to interact and hang out from time to time and that will give you early indicators as to what you're attracted to, but I think you're putting too much pressure on yourself. Don't worry about dating unless you really want to. Ask the guy to come hang out with you and a few friends and that will help take some of the pressure off.
Always keep in mind that chances are, you probably haven't even met the person you're going to marry and you probably won't for quite a while. Enjoy your friends and family right now.
And not to push my values on anyone else, but if the guy you're interested in is any sort of a man, he would ask you out first. Just be kind enough to show him you're interested (by asking him to join your friends at the movies or to come to your church)

Yes you are normal, there is nothing wrong with being attracted to someone of the same sex. A lesbian friend of mine once told me that the reason she stopped seeing men was because a girl knows how girls feel and what they want. So to be in a relationship with another female, she got all the compassion and emotions she wanted in a partner. It's the new age and being attracted to the same sex is becoming more and more accepted. Don't ever question yourself and who you like. Only you know what makes you happy and you should go for it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise because no one knows whats best for you, except for Y O U!!!! Good luck and I hope it all works out for you. :o)

I wouldnt say being uncomfortable around guys is normal, but it's fine to not really be into guys yet at 14. It's good to want to hang out with your girl friends and not be all wrapped-up about one boy or another. I believe being shy is a factor to being uncomfortable around guys. You should try and make some guyfriends along the way. Then there won't be any pressure added to your relationships.

If you are shy around guys it is because you lack in self-confidence. You probably are more comfortable around girls as that is very normal at your age. You are still young and will get more comfortable and confident as you grow a little older.
Enjoy being young as it goes by so fast.

Just wait - you're very young and confidence will come in time.
In the meantime, practice talking in the mirror - it sounds silly, but it gives you an idea of what you look like and how you present yourself; which can help give you confidence.

Yes, you're normal. You just have to be with whom you feel more comfortable with, if it just happens to be with females, then so be it.
