You need to find all the mines without clicking on them -- you must click all the boxes AROUND the mines.

You need to figure out where the mines are from the numbers that come up. If a '1' shows up, that means in the 8 boxes surrounding that box labeled '1' there is one box that contains a mine. if the box says '2' that means there are two mines in the 8 boxes surrounding that '2' box, and so on.

By clicking nearby boxes that you know aren't the mine, you can begin to figure out where the mine is.

Once you think you know where the mine is, you can right click the box where you think the mine it. it will display a red flag indicating a mine is there. if you right click again, it will give you a question mark - it may help you as you go along trying to figure out which one is which.

Good Luck!

First the premise:

The computer, each time you click on a square, will tell you how many mines are near that square.

so, for example, if you had a grid like:

X 2 X X

you would know that two of the X's near the 2 were mines. The number equals the number of mines in cells that are touching. If you then click the one next to the 2, as in this example:

X 2 0 X (0 being a blank square)

Now, based on this, you know that the squares:

X - - -
X 2 0 -
X - - -

Even thou you have not clicked on them, you know there can't be a mine in any of the - cells. So, click the one under the 2...

X - - -
X 2 0 -
X 1 - -

This 1 tells you that the bomb must be either next to the 2, or next to the one (but not both). If you click above the 2, and in this example get a 1, then again, you know that the cells around that one contain 1 bomb.

There are other patterns: if you see 1-2-2-1 on a straight edge, the squares right next to the 2's are both bombs. If you see 1-2-1 on a straight edge, the one in the middle is usually safe (as long as the values next to the ones are blanks), the ones right next to the 1's are bombs.

Hope this helps.

The basic idea to playing Minesweeper is that you attempt to find dangerous objects in a grid. Lets call those Dangerous Objects "Gems"

The grid is completely filled with unknown squares. Some contain empty space, and some contain Gems. Your goal is to reveal all the empty space without hitting a Gem.

To help you solve this puzzle, Numbers in squares next to unrevealed squares will indicate how many gems are adjacent to it.

If a empty square has a 2 in it, there are 2 gems next to it.

To clear a space you believe doesn't contain a gem, click on that square with the left mouse button. Click using your RIGHT mouse button any square you are sure contains a gem.

If you clear the whole grid correctly, you'll win. There you have it, the rules for classic Minesweeper.

TIPS:

Look for green "1"s that only have 1 uncovered square and no other Gems adjacent to it. That square HAS to be a Gem.

If you have marked all the gems that pertain to a adjacent number, click on the number to clear the remaining uncleared squares.

The number you see is the number of mines around that block. You just have to figure out which blocks have the mines. Click the right mouse button to mark a block as having a mine, or a question mark for a possibility.
