Some states make exemptions for religious reasons and a few still allow corporal punishment by law, however Nebraska's law has no exemptions.
Per the web site eNotes.com:
NEBRASKA: Statute prohibits knowingly, intentionally, or negligently causing or permitting physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, or emotional/mental injury. Statute contains no exemptions.
They are also broad in their definition of abuse:
physical abuse -- an unexplainable, non-accidental injury to the child
emotional abuse -- continual scapegoating or rejection of a child by parents which results in disturbed behavior
sexual abuse -- any sexually oriented act, practice, contact, or interaction in which the child has been used for sexual stimulation of an adult.

No wonder there are so many messed up kids when you can't even put them in the corner for misbehaving without someone coming after you! Don't know what to tell you. I'd just do whatever I thought was best - just don't beat the child.

Just ask them nicely to do what you want, if they don't listen, too bad. If you try and go any further, DHS might come banging down the door to take your kids away. Times have changed, parents no longer are in control, we have created a world that is now run by the children in it.
good luck, I hope your kids are the exception these days.

Here is my opinion..........if they don't like the way you discipline your kids they can raise them. Nothing is legal in CA either but you don't think that stopped me from spanking my kids when they needed it. My daughter has been back handed a few times too because she deserved it. My kids are wonderful people, they are good people, they are moral, honest and caring. Everything God intended of his people.......and they got that way because I didn't spare the rod...though they were hardly ever disciplined, they didn't need it.
