Do people even realize that there are very rich Mexican nationals-- lots of them? The 3rd richest man in the world is Mexican (Carlos "Slim" Helu)?

If Mexico’s rich were doing more to provide jobs for their fellow citizens, who could begrudge them their wealth? I wouldn’t.
Here is my American strategy. What if the U.S. got control of its borders, deported illegal aliens, refused to give amnesty, eliminated the Anchor Baby loophole, and expelled any Mexican diplomats who meddled in U.S. immigration policy?
What if we drastically reduced legal immigration, and made it clear by our policies that this era of mass immigration is over?
There would be a lot of shouting and whining. But in the end, Mexico would have to accept it. Then Mexicans would start paying more attention to their fellow citizens who are billionaires and millionaires. With the U.S. safety valve shut off, Mexico’s masses might start to pressure the government confiscate the wealth of Mexico’s rich…or just take

some of it themselves.
Faced with this prospect, I think these Mexican billionaires would start thinking seriously about generating more job opportunities for their fellow citizens.
These billionaires have formidable wealth, assets and connections.
How about using them to create more and better-paying jobs right here in Mexico? What are your thoughts on this?

Mexico economy is tied to American economy for the last 20 years, and integration of both economic will accelerate in the long term. Mexican grew like crap after 1980 its was policy failures in the 1970s that stunted growth in Mexico for the next 20 years thank. Thank Eshecvia and Protilo for screwing the economy over in the 1970s, and the 1980s.
Fox grew the economy 2.2% for 6 years, but Calderon should be able to beat 2.2% a year. Mexico income disparities are disturbing in wealthy cities people make 40,000 a year, and other places in Mexico 200 dollars a year.
Free Market growth in Mexico is the only way to go long term. Mexico is not poor like Africa, but its not wealthy like Canada, Australia.
The wage gap would need to be 2 to 1 before migration from Mexico will slow down. Mexico is not in economic depression their economy is similar to the Untied States in 1935 with a big chunk living like crap. Get the Mexican economy to where the Untied States was in 1970s migration will slow a lot.

Mexico gini index is 54 and America is apporaching 50, so tax reform in both nations is needed because a lot of billionares just use those economies to make a buck than have the money sit in Bamahas or Jersey. Corporations paying taxes in those countries requires lawyers, and accountants. I lay Blame for the economic problems in Mexico on both countries not just Mexico alone because America is more curropt than Western Europens in general. America ranks 62nd in the world paying taxes, and Mexico 126th wonder why taxpayers get screwed looked at the tax polices of both countries.
A corporate broad meeting in Mexico, and the Untied States is how to meet tax oligations with preverted tax systems. Tax complicance in Mexico is horrible, and the Untied States spends 200 billion in GDP to collect taxes of trillion dollars before we say immigration reform lets talk tax reform first.

Yes, in fact Mexico is a very rich country with a very high GDP, higher than many european countries like Spain. Unfortunately that wealth is in the hands of a very few, filthy rich billionaires like Carlos Slim. These filthy rich Mexicans pocket the money in their swiss bank accounts instead of creating jobs and helping their poorer fellow Mexicans. They need to start carrying their weight around to help Mexico instead living a lavious, rich lifestyle and tossing those poor Mexicans over to the U.S.,

On the other hand don't forget that there are also millions of illegals from all over the world here especially Asia doing just the same thing illegal Mexicans are doing.

Mexico does not have to be a 3rd world country. They could do a lot more for the poor, but by doing next to nothing, that is how they keep control over the poor. Yes I do wish more would talk about how rich Mexico is, the last I saw it was the richest country in Latin America, and in the world I've seen them at from 9 th to 13 th, witch is by no means poor. If the illegal immigrants from Mexico, were deported, that just might make them band togather and fight.

Its a bit more complicated than what you state......You really have to look below the surface to understand the complexities of Mexico's ongoing economic depression.....Mexico's history is not like ours....They didn't have founding fathers, fleeing an oppressive govt. and consequently writing a constitution, and guarantying our liberties....Their history was VERY different...You can't put all the blame on Mexico either.....Our country bares some responsibility for the economic depression in Mexico....

For example, one of the ways rich countries like the United States gain an economic advantage over weaker countries is by lending them money on the condition that the weaker country buy the rich country's products, ie, Walmart, Burger King, McDonalds, etc.

Hot or funny money, as it is sometimes called, enters the poorer economy and the economy booms, but then it later collapses when the country can't repay its debt and countries such as Mexico devulates the peso in order to pay back the debt.....This has happened for generations.....Just read your history.....

Put sanctions on Mexico and completely shut down the borders. The NAFTA agreement would have to be stopped. The Mexican wealthy are not going to do anything unless they are pressured.Oil and drug money would probably hinder this kind of move.

Some people do not seem to understand how the elite of mexico control the country. With any type of rebellion they wiil not hesitate to have the rebels killed or murdered.

This is most intelligent question I´ve seen on this forum in awhile! You make an excellent point! The majority of Mexico´s assets are in the hands of a few who do nothing to better their country or its economy. Mexico needs to solve it´s own problems because where there´s a will there´s a way and they definitely have the means to do it.

Finally a thoughtful solution.

If only the President and Dems would listen.

___

I don't think that conservatives have done much in this regard either. I'm extremely disappointed in the President on immigration. He has hurt his party (and the country) on this issue.
